Five tips to motivate your party plan team

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Once you’ve been in the business for a while you’ll start building a team within your party plan business. Be ready before you build your team, to offer tips, incentives, and motivation to your team. Thankfully, due to computers and technology there are a lot of things you can set up that are automatic. Some ideas call for your personal touch too, so let’s get started.

  1. Email Drip — Using Aweber you can set up an automatic newsletter that drips information to anyone who signs up. You can create the sign on to the newsletter on a private password protected page that you give the new recruit. Once the recruit signs up they’ll start receiving emails immediately. The dripped emails will “drip” into their inbox one at a time in any interval you set up.  Each person receiving emails will get them in the same order in the same interval.

You can also send out an email blast anytime you want to all people who signed up. This is an easy and fast way to ensure that all your team members get important information in an order that works for them. You’ve likely signed up for just such an email list yourself in the past. Getting regular information will keep your team motivated.

  1. YouTube.com — You can use your webcam or a FlipCam to video an announcement, motivational tidbit, or other tip then upload it to YouTube, past the code into an Aweber blast email and you’ll set up a great way to have personal interaction with your team. What’s also great is that people browsing YouTube might find your video, click the links below your video and sign up to be on your team.

  1. Video Seminars — You can use a program like Adobe Connect or GoToWebinar.com to have periodic Video Seminars where everyone can participate. You can invite people from other industries to speak at your even such as motivational speakers, recruiting experts, or even someone from your team who has excelled. Everyone can speak at a video seminar, or you can set it up so that they can only listen while you or your guests speak. You have access to sharing your desktop, uploading a PowerPoint presentation and so much more. It’s a perfect way to motivate your party plan team.

  1. Contests & Games – Having monthly or periodic contests and games where you give an extra incentive to team members for extraordinary performance is another excellent tip to build team motivation. For instance you can give a gift card to any team member that sells over a certain amount or recruits a certain number of people. It’s up to you and your party plan what you can do when it comes to contests and games.

  1. Newsletter — The team members who have done well and won prizes can be mentioned in a monthly newsletter which will thrill them and motivate the others. When the other team members see what prizes and recognition the other team members received they will be that much more motivated to excel. You can also include tips, birthday announcements, birth announcements and other news that your team members want to include. Invite team members to write for the newsletter, they’ll be thrilled to see their name in print.
