LikeWear™ is the first and only company dedicated to selling licensed apparel and accessories via Direct Sales. We’re a relatively new company that makes a fun, unique line of clothing and accessories featuring products and brands you – and your kids – really like. Hence the name LikeWear. We currently offer two main Collections per year, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter, which we freshen up with new items and promotions.
From candy and snack foods to TV shows and sports, our mission is to provide you with a turnkey, home-based business, selling quality clothing and accessories featuring leading brands and hot properties. Please download a catalog from our website to see for yourself!
LikeWear is a pending member of the Direct Selling Association. The Company supports the Direct Selling Association “Code of Ethics,” a promise to uphold the highest standards of business practices. This code speaks to the seller and ensures the consumers that statements made by their member companies are honest and forthright.
How long have you been with this company?
Since my husband and I founded it in June, 2006.
What are the sales quotas?
None at present. However, we will introduce certain performance criteria in order to maintain your active status when we implement our multi-level marketing compensation program (currently we are only single-level).
How do I start with this company?
Send me your contact info (lisa@likewear.com) and I’ll send you our catalog and some other introductory materials. Then we’ll schedule a time for me to take you through the opportunity in detail. Assuming you’re
interested, you’ll need to fill out an application and an independent representative agreement.
Once the application and agreement have been received and accepted, we usually recommend that you begin by purchasing a Starter Collection Kit for $249 so you can start selling using samples (as opposed to carrying inventory right away). We’ll then work with you to develop a sales strategy for your particular situation.
What is the commission structure?
The commission you receive varies depending on the sales method by which a product is sold (see “Where am I allowed to sell?” answer below for more info). That said, commissions from sales that “go through” LikeWear (i.e., credit card or wholesale sales to a retailer) are paid out monthly. Commissions from sales that go through you (i.e., you purchase from us and then resell), are received by you directly at the time of sale (you make the difference between your discounted purchase price and the full retail price). As mentioned above, we currently only offer a single level commission structure, but will implement a multi-level commission structure in the near future.
Are “company websites” available?
Not yet. But we are working to design a really cool “company website” that has “personalized storefront” features and “virtual catalogs” to help you grow your business.
Can I design my own website?
No. Our entire product line and many of our marketing materials (including web sites) need to be approved in advance by our licensing partners. As such, we do not allow our independent sales representatives to design their own web sites.
Where am I allowed to sell?
Everyone is a little different, so we give you opportunities to sell clothing and accessories using one – or a combination – of the following sales methods. You decide how to do business based on your personal style and preferences and you can switch between the sales methods at any time.
1) Catalog Sales – Use a “catalog” and product samples to take customer orders at house parties, local sales events,
one-on-one sales opportunities or pretty much anywhere else your networking takes you.
• No inventory required.
• Company-provided hostess rewards program.
• 25% profit on your sales (consultant purchases product at a 25% discount and sells to customers at full retail).
• Requires purchase of our Starter Collection Kit for $249. Kit supplements with new samples will need to be purchased for each new Collection.
2) Cash & Carry Sales – Purchase inventory upfront in volume so you can make instant sales at house parties, local sales events, one-on-one sales opportunities or anywhere else your networking takes you.
• Inventory required, but you earn double the profit on your personal sales.
• Purchase products at wholesale (50% off the suggested retail price) and sell them for retail. You keep the difference.
• Requires an initial inventory purchase, per seasonal Collection, of $1,000 at representative cost (50% of full retail). The first purchase includes the business building materials from our Starter Collection Kit.
3) Boutique Sales – Use a “catalog” and product samples to take wholesale orders from local boutique stores.
• No inventory required.
• Earn a 10% commission on all wholesale orders to retailers.
• Requires purchase of our Starter Collection Kit for $249 (not required if you have your own inventory/samples per the above Cash & Carry sales method).
• Stores will need to be pre-approved prior to contacting them.
Are training tools available?
Some, but selling our product doesn’t really take much training. Fact is, the best way to sell our clothing and accessories are to show them to people (kids in particular). And if you have kids, you already have a great “sales network” in place. Through school, sports, birthday parties and the numerous other activities in which your kids participate, you know lots of other mothers with kids. You’re
also familiar with clothing sizes, brand quality and what your kids and their friends are into.
So just by doing what you do already, you’ve got great credentials to sell a fun line of casual kids clothing and accessories featuring current, well-known brands and properties.
Our Starter Collection Kit costs $249 and includes 25-30 pieces from the current Collection (an $800 value in clothing and accessories alone). We’ll also provide you with a starter set of business cards, catalogs, sales receipts and other items that will have you making sales fast. But most importantly, you’ll get ongoing business advice, guidance and support from our team.
Am I required to hold home parties?
No. At LikeWear, we look at home parties a little bit differently than other direct sales companies. As our product doesn’t really require much demonstration, we recommend scheduling an “open house” for a few hours and inviting customers over to check out the clothes in a low-pressure environment. But by all means, turn it into a party if you want to!
More Information:
Admittedly, as a new direct sales company, we don’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the bigger companies… yet. But we do have an amazing product that features well known brands that people really like. As a testament to our potential, we already have licensing deals in place with two great companies, Tootsie Roll Industries and General Mills. This is a ground floor opportunity and a chance to work directly and personally with the founders of the first and only company dedicated to selling licensed apparel and accessories via Direct Sales. Please contact me if there is anything else you’d like to know!
